The question is often asked how do they make roads safe from drivers who drive without regard to others? This also means that you have to be alert to the recklessness of another driver because he or she may not be attentive to it, or may not care because they think that if the other drivers are alert that this and only this will avoid an accident. When people drive they have to take into consideration speeding by drivers and that of police officers on a chase. The proper thing to do is to move over and get out of the way of the melee so that whoever it is will eventually be caught by the time you creep along in your car and see the officer handing the driver in the getaway car a ticket.
Interstates and highways need to be equipped with camers so that they can get the license plate and car description of the speeding vehicle. Although some highways roads may already be implementing this. There is also a need to curtail speeding at the start of a reckless drivers pursuit. Many irresponsible drivers get onto main interstates and highways via ramps or other exits that place them in a zone to drive very, very fast with many other cars in each lane. One may say, what's wrong with that, everybody else is driving as fast as they can to get to where they are going also? Too much speed is not good. It may get you somewhere, but not in the same condition or as you were when you began your venture!
There needs to be a deterent to drivers who subsequently speed off of ramps and exits and into oncoming traffic. This would also include drivers who speed or drive into traffic by going in the wrong direction or wrong way.
Speed bumps should be placed along the strip of road of a ramp or exit that drivers drive off from as they enter the connecting interstate or highway. There should also be a speed bump placed along the interstate or highway that joins the ramp or exit to the interstate or highway. For example: A driver is entering ramp 1E, as the driver exits off of ramp 1E he or she drives over a speed bump preventing them from speeding into traffic. As the driver goes over the speed bump and into traffic on Plans Highway he or she will drive over yet another speed bump on Plans Highway to prevent excess speed once on the highway. Speed bumps should be placed just before a ramp or exit on a highway such as Plans Highway and after one has passed a ramp or exit on a highway eg. Plans Highway. With speed bumps in place at ramps and exit points and on highways along ramps and exits, this would prevent drivers from not only speeding but speeding and driving in the wrong direction on interstates and highways.
Now if the roads and highways were wide enough so that police cars and fire trucks could have their own driving lane!
