The hemisphere of the brain that controls the auditory processing in our body, is the left hemisphere. The left hemisphere processes comprehension of speech, language and of course hearing. The left side of the brain functions in conjunction with the right side of the body. This would mean that the right ear which is located on the right side of the body would benefit more from the auditory process because the left hemisphere of the brain would communicate with the right ear directly. Left ear dominance occurs when left ear sounds go to the right brain hemisphere first and the pass through the corpus collosum in order to get to the left brain hemisphere. With left ear dominance sound travels at a lower frequency causing the ear to be out of sync with the brain, probably because of the distance of travel. Depending on the direction of travel you may lose time meaning that it becomes later or you may gain time meaning it then becomes earlier. Sound processing can create a delay or reduction in frequency depending on which ear hears the sound originally.
