Annatto is a plant extract that is red in color. It comes from achiote shrub seeds. Annatto is used as a natural food coloring used in many foods and products. Although annatto has many natural benefits such as lowering blood pressure, fighting off bacteria, treating skin conditions, diabetes, hepatitis and being an antioxidant, annatto, also causes many side affects as a result. These side affects include irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal pain, and causing adverse behavioral affects on people with mental disabilities. These behaviors include becoming aggressive and hyperactive.
We eat food or drink juices much of the time without thought as to what food coloring goes into them or how someone can possibly become affected. The additive MSG can also cause behavior problems since people with mental disabilities many of times have food intolerance problems. If this affects so many people,then what in the world are they supposed to eat since annatto and MSG are in lots of foods including processed macaroni, by golly this is an American staple?
Glutamate and glutamine are amino acids found in the body. Glutamate functions as a neurotransmitter and sends signals to the nervous system. Glutamine helps the digestive and immune systems stay healthy by removing waste. glutathione is made from glutamate. There are no lab tests, at least that I know of to determine glutathione levels in the body. Problems with glutathione levels in the body can affect the DNA or probably blood oxidation levels. Glutathione is the antioxidant, amino acid that gives the brain it's resource for function. Is it possible that annatto and other dyes and preservatives are causing glutathione deficiency thus leading to the excess production of glutamate that impairs the brain of a person with mental disabilities in that they become irritable, violent, and begin to inflict harm on themselves and things around them?
Food dyes and preservative have been around for years and their affects on people with already compromised methylation, which is the process of when one develops during childbirth. Methylation impairment is when a person was affected during that time. This also involves, toxin or toxic exposure ect. Since glutathione production becomes disrupted during methylation and continues with the foods that contain additives, dyes with side affects that contribute to mental disabilities, these may be a reason to make foods without annatto and to supplement them with N-Acetylcysteine to provide the brain with what it needs to transmit signals properly and protect the brain as an antioxidant. The brain needs brain food and so does the body!
