Is there a way to eliminate or reduce the amount of time and tediousness it takes to go from website to website for each and every patient? Go back to paper, just joking!
Yes, but there has to be implementation on the part of the EMR's to allow the medical staff and physicians create their own user panel. To incorporate within that user panel, the various different websites including that of e-mail inside the medical staff or physicians user panel so it can be accessed within the EMR software. By doing this the medical assistant, front desk worker or physician can continue to work from within the EMR.
For example: a new EMR software company called "No Patience" developed their software to include the medical office employee or the physician so that when they access the EMR software they can create and customize a user panel. In doing so, the medical office worker can type in a website eg. a lab website, an insurance company website and add that website to their user panel so that instead of getting out of the EMR software, the user can stay within the EMR and just go to their user panel to access the website let's say Leach Labs. They can prepare a requisition for a patients labs. The medical office assistant or front desk worker can also access their user panel within the EMR to obtain a referral. You never have to leave the EMR, even to check office memos and other correspondence. The user panel can also be customized to download new and updated information to use as a reference or to post other information pertinent to insurance companies or simple reminders. You have access to all of your internet websites, and can customize a user panel with the names and information of commonly used physicians, hospitals and diagnostic facilities for quick reference. The user panel for EMR can also be used to send and access notes from within the office staff or to fax and e-mail memo's outside of the office.
