Melanocytes are responsible for producing pigment or color of skin or hair. Bulbar melanocytes are hair follicles in the hair and over time are subject to becoming damaged and impaired due to many factors that include heredity, environment and other chemical imbalances the scalp and hair are subjected to. It does seem that the scalp or hair due to age is affected by the lack of antioxidant to protect bulbar melanocytes from impairment. This is important due to the fact that antioxidants are molecules that prevent free radicals resulting from oxidative stress in the body. Bulbar melanocytes need extra protection against ROS or reactive oxygen species. Reactive oxygen species is what is considered an unstable molecule or free radical that contains oxygen and causes a negative reaction with other molecules in a cell. This process of ROS causes cell death by doing damage to DNA and RNA as this occurs with age. Malassezia is a yeast that is common to the scalp. The malassezia yeast are lipid dependent and produce fatty acids that cause reactive oxygen species to occur within the scalp and surrounding bulbar melanocytes. Since the malassezia yeast are a stimulant for the ROS process, people who may be prone to an overproduction of scalp malassezia may often suffer from impaired melanocytes prematurely. Vinegar is considered to be bioactive in that ie contains acetic acid and is effective as an antioxidant to reduce oxidative stress. Oils made of vinegar can be used on the scalp to remove excess malassezia to prevent the formation of reactive oxygen species from occurring especially on the scalp. Repair those melanocytes and slow down the process of age!
Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid needed for the body to function. The human body does not manufacture omega-3 so we have to get it from our diet. Omega-3 is usually found in fish such as tuna, salmon, sardines and also in plants and nuts. Omega -3 is also essential in helping reduce the risk of heart disease. Omega-3 is also important to the brain since it helps with cognitive ability. The benefits of omega-3 are that it also benefits those with high blood pressure, diabetes, high-cholesterol, osteoporosis ans even different types of cancer. It would be interesting to do a study of keloid patients to see of they are what can be considered omega-3 deficient. Keloids develop when scar tissue repeatedly produces fibrous tissue over an already covered or healed scar. The abnormal wound healing process at the cellular level causes the skin to make layers of abnormal growths of skin due to injury, wound or anywhere the skin is opened. The Keloid is a result of a skin opening that continues to cover itself. It could be that some deficiencies result in skin disorders, some more than others since our bodies do not naturally produce omega-3, and since this fatty acid is needed for cellular regulation if someone is deficient in omega-3 or their body is unable to absorb it no matter how much they take then keloids may result. Regarding skin fibroblast during wound healing, fatty acids under normal circumstances stop producing excess skin once a wound is covered; when a keloid occurs there may be a lack of fatty acid in the body for skin fibroblasts to recognize that the skin has already been covered or healed. The poor signaling process of skin fibroblasts results in deformity of skin healing. Omega-3 is said to be helpful in the brains cognitive function, right? So if cognitive function includes memory, then it would appear that the skin fibroblasts are unaware or simply forgets that it has covered a wound with a layer of skin. Since the cognitive or signaling process within the skins fibroblast is damaged and cannot recall that it has already healed the wound it does it over and over. If what results is a keloid that becomes larger and larger over time then omega-3 or polyunsaturated fatty acids should be used during surgery or when the situation arises such as when an injury occurs to lessen the chances of keloid formation. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, help those skin fibroblasts never forget!
Lyme disease is almost as common as the flu. People who live in areas populated with deer and who are surrounded by grassy areas are usually affected. My suggestion, stay city! The burbs are for marathoners who enjoy treking several miles to and from each day and for those who enjoy the wilderness. Lyme disease or Borrelia is the bacteria that a person becomes infected with when they get lyme disease. Currently when testing for lyme disease physician's usually test for IGM and IGG antibodies. The IGM antibodies can be detected in the blood approximately about two to three weeks of exposure or tick infestation- with a few weeks the IGM levels will begin to decrease. IGG antibodies usually take much longer and can take several weeks to become detected and once lyme disease is determined the level of infection within several months is usually high or elevated and it can remain that way for years. Testing for lyme disease should be offered as an over the counter testing kit not only for children and adults but for animals also. Let's say a family member has what appears to be a tick and they want to be tested. They go to their local ER or even urgent care. The people on staff who have many patients there probably with the same complaint, just remove the tick or the source of the complaint without any testing as it is always advised, "follow-up with your physician". So a patient does this, but it may be several days after the fact. Primary care physician's are usually extremely busy and the are expected to pull ticks and test and do many other things also including that of their specialty. Symptoms such as fever, muscle or joint pain along with fatigue are common, a lyme disease rash can also occur. The important thing is to make sure that if you have lyme disease that you find out in the early stages so that you are not dealing with a disease such as lyme that can become chronic. Cognitive impairment or neurological problems can occur as a result of lyme disease becoming a chronic condition. The Borrelia-over the counter test can be purchased at any drug store. It will contain a few sets of tweezers, since you don't want to contaminate ones you may be using on a regular basis. It also contains Borrelia test strips and a dilutant used to cover the tick once it is removed along with some gloves and a few plastic cups and gauze. The Borrelia over the counter test can be sold in single or family packs. A person would simply remove the plastic cup and pour the dilutant into it and then put the top back on to it. Then you would put on the plastic gloves and take the tweezers and remove the tick or as much as possible and place it on the gauze. You then remove the lid from the plastic cup and put the tweezers with the tick into the cup. Make sure the tick has entered the cup before you remove the tweezers. A few minutes later you then take the Borrelia test strip and insert it into the cup. The Borrelia test comes with two kinds of antibody test strip testing- IGM and IGG. You can test for both depending on the severity of symptom. If lymes is detected the test strip indicator will indicate that you have lyme disease, if not the test strip will indicate negative. Once it is determined that lyme disease is present you can, visit your physician and do other lab testing or they will refer you to a specialist for bacterial infections for treatment. The great thing about the Borrelia-over the counter test is that it saves you time and money from going to the ER and urgent care until you can finally get an answer with the removal of a tick. The Borrelia-over the counter test, get the tick off without being ticked off!
A lot goes on inside of a physicians office. In order for a physician to be able to practice and I really wish they would come up with another term because to me it seems that I've been among rehearsal for several years. Because, hey these physicians are only practicing. Is this the implication that another being is doing the actual work? It's scary and for some physicians, please don't say that the heavenly father has guided you to do this, really! Practicing or simply just playing one, well all the world's a stage. Physicians have to have a licence in the state that they practice medicine and they need a DEA or rather drug enforcement administration certificate in order to be able to prescribe medications. They also have to have malpractice insurance and for each and every health insurance company they decide to accept insurance from they need information from them. The problem becomes that there are just too many websites to go through and also the completion of paperwork. Of course you guessed it, this makes it more difficult for the front desk worker to do in between patient visits, pre-certifications, referrals, labs, making appointments, tasking medications, and listening to each and every problem that someone is having. Believe me, getting test results from different facilities and getting information from patients who can't remember being there is a trying thing. Also patients who just talk, talk, talk when there is nothing more to say on the subject and making things more difficult than what they really have to be is something else. Why can't physicians have one website that they have to go to to renew, apply, update and cancel physician licences, certificates and everything else to keep a physician up and going in the office. The National Physicians Registry is the website that physicians would use to go to in order to obtain their medical licence, DEA and malpractice insurance- all you need to do to be compliant is to select the state that you currently practice medicine in. Why would a national physicians registry be beneficial? Because, all the front desk worker would need to do is to log in and assist the physician in updating any info needed to continue their field of medicine regarding licences, certificates and insurance. A physician can view their licences, certificates and insurance on-line and if they need to take CME courses for cost discount and other requirements those courses or applications can be completed and or accessed within the National Physician's Registry. There would be no need for the front desk worker to write a computer program called "countdown to retirement", because they have gone berserk due to the fact that they have to access several other websites and complete and e-mail or fax forms ect. With the National Physicians Registry it is a complete physician portal that the physician can use to see if they need to take courses for discount and or credit and renew licenses and certificates. When there is new and important information especially concerning healthcare and other requirements for physicians and pertinent Medicare information the National Physician's Registry is the website to use and stay updated!
